FAQ
Stuff people actually ask.
Do I need a triathlon bike?
Nope. Any safe, working bike + a helmet is all you need. Mountain bike, hybrid, road bike, your kid's BMX — we don't care.
Is this beginner friendly?
Very. The Sprint distance is approachable for first-timers, the swim is a calm, lifeguarded lap pool (not open water), and the Bike + Run option skips the swim entirely if you'd rather ease in.
Where is the swim?
The Elgin Lap Pool — you'll share a lane with one other swimmer for a calm, lifeguarded start before heading out on the bike.
Why only $20?
Because this isn't a premium race weekend — it's a community race. $20 covers what we can actually deliver, and we'd rather under-promise than charge you $150 for swag you don't need.
What time do I need to show up?
Check-in opens at 6:30 AM in front of the Elgin Center — bring your bike so we can get you racked and marked. The swim starts at 7:00 AM sharp, with bike and run close behind.
Can I skip the swim?
Yes. Register for the Bike + Run option and start with the bike leg — same course, same finish line, no pool time required.
